• The Gallery 32789 has a wide variety of original fine art and sculpture from Florida artists that includes styles from traditional to abstract and subjects such as local flora, fauna, landmarks and landscapes. As one of the artist members, my mixed media paintings are among the available works. The gallery is next to George’s Cafe, which has terrific food and several outdoor tables.
• Heading about a block south on Park Avenue you’ll find the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art. It has the world’s most comprehensive collection of Louis Comfort Tiffany’s art glass, windows, lamps, jewelry, paintings, as well as pottery, graphics, and decorative art.
• On the east side of Park and a bit further south is the Scott Laurent Collection, which includes original art, gifts, jewelry, furniture, and home accents. It’s located in the Hidden Gardens, which is another row of shops behind the ones on Park.
• Also on the east side of the street about 3 blocks south you’ll find the Ocean Blue Galleries, featuring work from many popular artists, including Dr. Seuss.
• The Rollins Museum of Art has free admission and can be found about a half mile further south on the campus of Rollins College at 1000 Holt Avenue. The museum has many special exhibits throughout the year. A part of the Alfond Collection is on view at The Alfond Inn, which is located at the corner of E. New England Avenue and Interlachen.
• The next two stops on the tour are not in easy walking distance but are well worth a short car ride. The Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens include the sculptor’s home, galleries, and lovely sculpture garden on a lake and is located at 633 Osceola Avenue.
• Solana Fine Art is a new gallery on the west side of Winter Park with contemporary art in oil, acrylic, encaustic, pastels, mixed media, and art glass.
Have fun on your Art Tour of Winter Park!
