Waiting For Baby
|Written by Tom Birdseye
Illustrated by Loreen Leedy.
The story is told from the viewpoint of a young boy as he eagerly awaits the birth of his baby sister. He vividly imagines how they will play together on the swings, on their bicycles, and with the family dog. It is a surprise for him to see how tiny the new baby really is, but he is thrilled to have her come home at last.
“The text flows gently and is well paired with Leedy’s soft renderings.”

|WRITING IDEA: Write a letter to a new baby, giving him or her advice on how to behave (no drooling!) and what to look out for when the baby is old enough to attend school (beware of the Mystery Meat.)|
